Outcasts Outgunned

Outcasts CC took on old friends and foes Albion at Winton Cricket Club on Tuesday 30th August on another fine summer's evening. The home side welcomed back Steve Potter who has spent the past 6 years in Abu Dhabi but has now returned to the UK on a permanent basis. It also marked his 200th appearance for Outcasts.

Albion batted first in a game restricted to 15 overs per innings with the nights starting to draw in at this time of year. They set off like a... train, going at 10 runs an over, and it looked at one stage that they might top 150. However, Outcasts later bowlers helped to cut back the scoring rate, with Chris Truesdale, Jeff Stanton and Derek Molyneux all performing creditably. Derek even managed a wicket maiden - quite an achievement in such a run-fest. Nevertheless, Albion's 127 off 15 overs was always going to be a tall order, given Outcasts fragile batting.

And so it proved. Despite some lusty hitting from Scott Broadhurst and Tony Threlfall - Scotty lashing two 6s in his not out 22, Outcasts finished on 92-3, well short of their target.

Next up is the return fixture with Warrington at Winton on the 7th September. Let's hope we can end the season on a winning note.
